Jessica Marra is an Attorney in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office and focuses her practice on Workers’ Compensation, Criminal Law, Contract Disputes, Administrative Matters and General Litigation.

Prior to joining the firm, Jessica worked as an Assistant State Attorney for the Office of the State Attorney, Seventeenth Judicial Circuit where she led over 400 felony cases through court proceedings, including jury trials. Additionally, she worked as a Certified Legal Intern, Law Clerk, and Paralegal where she gained experience preparing and conducting arraignments, calendar calls, motions, depositions, and legal research.

Jessica earned her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in Political Science from Florida International University where she was a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship recipient. She then went on to receive her law degree from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center where she graduated cum laude. While attending law school, Jessica earned a spot on the Dean’s List and received both the Cuban American Bar Association Scholarship and President’s Award. She was also nominated for the Larry Kalevitch Service Award, as well as the Stephanie Aleong Impact Award. Additionally, Jessica served as both the President and Vice President of the Student Bar Association and was an active member of the Student Affairs Faculty Committee and the Nova Trial Association.

Jessica is fluent in Spanish and is licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.

  • Prevailed in trial, as lead and sole counsel, after two full  days of expert testimony, multiple surveillance witnesses, employer witnesses and extensive cross examination of a difficult claimant in a PTD  (Permanent Total Disability) claim. The claimant had already been deemed disabled by the Social Security Administration and was alleging an inability to ever work again due to his accident. Claimant developed numerous arguments in defense of his alleged disability and inability to work. These were all successfully rebutted by Jessica at trial after lengthy cross examination of all witnesses and vigorous legal argument before the Court, saving the client upwards of $600,000 dollars.
  • Successfully litigated and argued a heavily contested settlement enforcement issue before the Court where claimant indicated he had been coerced into settlement. After continuous litigation to convince the Court that attorney/client privilege had been waived and a substantial evidentiary hearing, including testimony from claimant’s prior attorney, Jessica prevailed on this matter, forcing the claimant to settle his case.
  • Successfully advocated for her client in need of assistance with re-classification of Health Department Violation, securing re-classification and saving the client close to $100,000 in loss of funding as a result.
  • Negotiated a settlement on a Federal Tele-Communications case for a fraction of the requested damages on behalf of her client and further secured release of any and all criminal sanctions for the Federal Tele-Communications violation.
  • Successfully secured her client’s rightful award,  in contract dispute, where payment was never properly made by art consignee in exchange for his sale of artist’s works. Same was secured through significant legal research due to specific facts, extensive correspondence advising the erred party of the legal issues and consequences of same, and persistence.
