Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act

Kelley Kronenberg's Longshore practice provides maritime employers and carriers statewide with one-stop investigation, litigation and defense. Our attorneys can resolve jurisdictional disputes, consult on risk management matters and conduct on-site inspection of employers’ premises. We also attend hearings before Administrative Law Judges and handle appeals, settlement evaluations and document preparation. Our customized seminars and workshops train adjusters in the best ways to handle Longshore claims and jurisdictional issues.

The Department is headed by Partner Robert L. Bamdas in the Greenacres Office. Mr. Bamdas is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, and currently defends various employers and carriers in all varieties of both DBA and Longshore claims. Over the past 17 years, Mr. Bamdas has personally litigated numerous cases before  various administrative law judges and handled post judgment matters including appeals when necessary.    Ms. Bamdas is also a frequent speaker and educator on the Longshore Act and DBA and has organized and presented the Longshore and DBA Breakout in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor at the annual Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference in Orlando, Florida. He has also spoken on Jurisdiction Under The Longshore Act Act and Interplay with Other Acts at the Annual Longshore Conference presented by the Loyola University New Orleans School of Law and the U.S. Department of Labor in Louisiana. He is additionally the certified instructor who presents the Adjuster Board Certification course “Other Jurisdictions” in Florida on Longshore, DBA, and Jones Act,  several time per year.

Furthermore, our supporting team of attorneys, paralegals and staff are trained and experienced with the complex issues and procedures unique to practicing before the Department of Labor (O.W.C.P.) and Office of Administrative Law Judges (O.A.L.J.).
