David Hicks is a Partner in the firm’s Tampa office focusing his practice on creditors’ rights, commercial litigation and bankruptcy litigation.
David represents banks and non-bank lenders, secured and unsecured creditors, and business organizations in all aspects of asset recovery and bankruptcy litigation. He has experience handling matters involving the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and the Florida Consumer Collection Protection Act (FCCPA).
Prior to joining the firm, David spent fifteen years in a statewide practice representing national lenders as well as individual clients primarily in bankruptcy related litigation including, adversary proceedings, contested matters and bankruptcy appeals. Prior to that David served as the principle litigation lawyer for a large Debtor’s firm in Tampa representing individual and corporate debtors in Chapters 7, 13 and 11. David has served as an Assistant General Counsel for the Florida Department of Revenue where he represented the Department in bankruptcy litigation and began his career as a criminal defense lawyer serving as an Assistant Public Defender in the Fourth Judicial Circuit in Jacksonville.
David earned his undergraduate degree from Jacksonville University and went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Florida State University, College of Law.
