Attorney
Michael Danon is an Attorney at Kelley Kronenberg, focusing his practice on first-party property insurance and general liability defense. He brings a wealth of experience in insurance defense, civil litigation, and criminal prosecution to his role at the firm.
Prior to joining Kelley Kronenberg, Michael worked as an associate at prominent law firms in New Orleans where he managed both federal and state insurance defense dockets involving first-party property damage, construction defect, personal injury, employment disputes, and insurance coverage. His responsibilities included negotiating settlements, leading mediations, court appearances, case investigation, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
Michael spent the majority of his career as a prosecutor with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office. As a member of the trials division and as Deputy Chief of Trials, Michael was responsible for negotiating thousands of settlements and has tried hundreds of cases, including over thirty major crime jury trials through verdict. More importantly, Michael was instrumental in training the next generation of litigators and courtroom advocates. As a member of the appellate division, Michael has handled direct and collateral appeals, arguing before the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal and Louisiana Supreme Court on a wide range of evidentiary, statutory, and constitutional issues.
Now in his civil practice, Michael puts his trial and appellate advocacy to work evaluating liability exposure and actively focusing on developing efficient litigation strategies to bring cases to a quick resolution for his corporate clients.
Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Whitman College, where he defended his oral thesis on the role of constitutional systems and their survivability during economic collapse, focusing on the Roman Republic, Eighteenth Century French Monarchy, and the United States during the Progressive and New Deal eras. He then pursued his legal education at Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington, where he received his Juris Doctor. At Gonzaga, Michael received the CALI Award for Excellence in Appellate Writing and served as an Associate Editor for the Gonzaga Journal of International Law.
Beyond his legal practice, Michael has a keen interest in classical Greco-Roman and Near Eastern history. He is also an avid athlete, having participated in varsity wrestling, lacrosse and rugby in high school and college. On occasion, Michael still attempts to play rugby with the Crescent City Blues Rugby Football Club of New Orleans.
