ShareLeading Children’s Rights Attorney Howard Talenfeld Receives AFP Broward Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award
Fort Lauderdale, FL – Howard M. Talenfeld, a top children’s rights attorney, was honored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter as the 2024 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser. Talenfeld is a Business Unit Leader of Justice for Kids, a division of Kelley Kronenberg, and the Founder and Board President of Florida’s Children First.
“I am deeply humbled to receive this award and be recognized among such an amazing group,” said Talenfeld. “I am truly passionate about the work of Florida’s Children First and the wonderful efforts of this team to advocate for better outcomes for society’s most vulnerable youth. Thank you for this recognition and for bringing attention to such a worthy organization.”
Talenfeld received this significant award on November 14, 2024, at AFP’s 37th National Philanthropy Day, a luncheon and awards celebration honoring community champions for their unique contributions and dedication to nonprofit causes.
For the past two decades, Talenfeld has been zealously committed to helping youth in foster care through his role as founding Board President of the award-winning nonprofit organization Florida’s Children First (FCF). FCF has become Florida’s most prominent advocacy organization for at-risk children in the state, protecting tens of thousands of children and impacting child welfare policy nationwide. FCF’s innovative vision and model for change in the child welfare system has been cited by the Annie E. Casey Foundation as a “best practice” model for addressing issues affecting youth in the foster care system. In addition to fundraising, Talenfeld and the FCF team have been responsible for significant legislation, executive and judicial branch advocacy, and training attorneys, guardians, case workers, industry professionals, and child advocates throughout Florida.
Talenfeld is known for having established a robust children’s rights practice spanning Florida and expanding into other states including Illinois. His work on behalf of children in foster care and children with disabilities has improved many lives and resulted in precedent-setting judicial decisions and legislative reforms.
Earlier this year, Talenfeld was honored by the American Association for Justice (AAJ) as the recipient of the 2024 Trial Lawyers Care Award and recognized on Forbes’ inaugural list of America’s Top 200 Lawyers. He has consistently been selected by Florida Trend magazine for its annual Florida 500 list acknowledging his influential impact in Florida as a voice for children.
