ShareKelley Kronenberg Sweeps with Four Victories Against Serial Plaintiff, SFR Services
Kelley Kronenberg’s team of Partner/Business Unit Leader Jake Huxtable and Attorney Zachary Schiffman built on the foundation laid by Partner Melissa Usher, securing multiple victories against serial plaintiff SFR Services, LLC, successfully defending our client First Protective Insurance Company in four separate cases across multiple Florida counties. The team’s aggressive defense strategy led to dismissals in all cases and significant cost recoveries for our client.
In the most substantial case, filed in Charlotte County, SFR Services sought damages of nearly $140,000.00 as the assignee of the insured. Jake and Zachary successfully defended based on lack of standing, resulting in the plaintiff’s dismissal of the lawsuit and a recovery of $9,000.00 in attorney’s fees and costs for our client.
The team continued their successful streak in Lee County, handling two separate cases involving insureds. In one case, after winning at arbitration and facing the plaintiff’s filing for trial de novo, the team’s strategic defense led to a dismissal and a $600.00 settlement with entitlement to costs. The second Lee County case similarly concluded with a dismissal and a recovery of $950.00 in costs for our client.
Completing the sweep, in Sarasota County, Jake and Zachary secured another victory in a case involving an insured property owner, recovering $1,500.00 in litigation costs after the plaintiff’s dismissal under the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
These coordinated victories across multiple jurisdictions, resulting in a total recovery of $12,050.00 in fees and costs, demonstrate the team’s effective approach to defending against assigned claims and their ability to secure favorable outcomes for our insurance clients.
