I believe it is important to recognize the people, events, and culture that has shaped our history. Black History Month is a celebration of our heritage and honors the historic leaders that paved the way for the civil rights of all Americans.
Who inspires you?
Michelle Obama inspires me greatly. She led an incredibly successful law and education career and as the first African-American First Lady she initiated programs to facilitate the well-being of American children.
If you could have a conversation with a civil rights activist, who would it be and why?
I would love to have a conversation with Maya Angelou. Her life and legacy has provided me with so much inspiration and it would be an honor to learn more about her experiences in the Civil Rights Movement.
