Women’s History Month Employee Spotlight – Jessica Marra
How long have you worked for Kelley Kronenberg? 7 years in April
Who is your hero? My grandmother
Favorite Quote or Mantra? “Just keep swimming”, “Be so good they can’t ignore you”
Who are some women you admire?
My grandmother, my mom, my daughter, my mother in law, Ruth Bader Ginsburg
What advice would you give to the next generation of women?
Don’t give up, don’t give in, and don’t accept someone making you feel like you are less than you are. Always be professional but be strong. Show your value not by being rude but through your work ethic. Be so good, they can’t ignore you.
What challenge remain for women today? How can understanding history help us to overcome them?
We are still regularly underestimated. History is a positive. It shows how far we have come and how to keep going to get further. Throughout history, the women who were strong, unafraid, unapologetic but still professional and good at what they did made an impact. That’s why RBG is on my list above. That is what history shows me. Push through, don’t waste time being sensitive, and just prove your worth. You’ll break that glass ceiling. That’s how you do it. Strength breaks the glass ceiling.
