Firm History

Kelley Kronenberg was built on hard work, passion and a focus on client service. Every year since 1980, Kelley Kronenberg has evolved and progressed to meet the needs of our clients and the ever-changing landscape of their businesses. Since its inception, Kelley Kronenberg has been a leading law firm serving a wide range of businesses. The firm has extensive experience and is a leader within the insurance industry for over 40 years.

We are proud of our history and celebrate our continued growth as one of the fastest-growing law firms in Florida.

Below is the timeline of our expansion and some significant events in our firm’s history:

  • 1980 – Bud Adams, Charles Kelley and Steven Kronenberg found and open Kelley Kronenberg in Coconut Grove, Florida.
  • 1980 – Kelley Kronenberg moves primary office to Miami Lakes, Florida.
  • 1980 – Kelley Kronenberg opens office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
  • 1980 – Kelley Kronenberg open office in West Palm Beach, Florida.
  • 1987 – Michael Fichtel, current CEO and Principal Partner, joins the firm and becomes a partner in 1992.
  • 1987 – Karen Gilmartin, current Principal Partner, joins the firm and becomes a partner in 1992.
  • 1989 – Howard Wander, current CFO and Principal Partner, joins the firm and becomes a partner in 1996.
  • 1995 – Heath Eskalyo, current CFO and Principal Partner, joins the firm and becomes a partner in 2000.
  • 1996 – Christine Simpson, Executive Director, joins the firm.
  • 1998 – Charles Kelley, Co-founder, retires.
  • 1998 – Kelley Kronenberg moves to its present headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
  • 1998 – Kelley Kronenberg opens office in Orlando, Florida.
  • 1999 – The firm starts to diversify its practice areas, and accelerates this track throughout the next decade.
  • 2008 – Kelley Kronenberg opens office in Tampa, Florida.
  • 2010 – Michael Fichtel, current CEO and Principal Partner, appointed firm Managing Partner.
  • 2011 – Kelley Kronenberg opens office in Chicago, Illinois.
  • 2011 – The firm headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida expands and grows to 30,000 square feet.
  • 2011 – Kelley Kronenberg opens office in Tallahassee, Florida.
  • 2012 –  Steven Kronenberg, Co-Founder, retires.
  • 2012 – Thomas Choberka, Chief Business Development Officer, joins the firm.
  • 2015 – Kelley Kronenberg opens office in Miami, Florida on Brickell Avenue, in the heart of Miami’s financial district.
  • 2015 – Kelley Kronenberg opens a virtual satellite office in Atlanta, Georgia.
  • 2018 – Barbara Repandis, Chief Human Resources Officer, joins the firm.
  • 2018 – Jorge Cosio, Chief Strategy Officer, joins the firm.
  • 2018 – Randy Moreau, Chief Accounting Officer, joins the firm.
  • 2019 – Greta Matiash, Chief Marketing Officer, joins the firm.
  • 2019 – Francis Magbanua, Chief Information Officer, joins the firm.
  • 2019 – The firm completes construction and moves into its new state-of-the-art corporate headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
  • 2019 – Kelley Kronenberg opens office in Jacksonville, Florida.
  • 2019 – The firm hits 300 employees firm-wide.
  • 2020 – Kelley Kronenberg welcomes Justice for Kids, a leading Child Advocacy Practice Group.
  • 2020 – Kelley Kronenberg opens office in Naples, Florida.
  • 2020 – Kelley Kronenberg goes 100% virtual in response to COVID-19.
  • 2020 – Michelle Martinez Reyes, Chief Relations Officer, joins the firm.


Today, Kelley Kronenberg is a multi-practice business law firm with more than 175 attorneys and 11 locations throughout Florida and the United States.
