Carlos Carmona is a Partner at Kelley Kronenberg, focusing his practice on the defense of first-party property insurance matters. He brings extensive experience in insurance defense litigation, Special Investigations Unit matters, and fraud investigation across multiple lines of insurance products.
Prior to joining Kelley Kronenberg, Carlos served as partner and founder of a law firm, where he personally handled pre-suit matters and litigation in the insurance defense space, conducted Examinations Under Oath and other investigatory matters for enterprise Special Investigations Units, had direct involvement in the investigation of suspected fraudulent claims across several lines of insurance products including Personal Articles Policies, Homeowners, Commercial Business, Automobile, and Transportation Network Company Claims, and litigated affirmative declaratory judgment actions on behalf of insurance companies seeking to void coverage. He also handled first-party property, bodily injury, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, coverage opinions, PIP and medical payments coverage, and served as lead trial counsel on several cases to verdict. His experience also includes serving as Lead Assistant State Attorney for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, where he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases, argued pre-trial motions, represented the State in over forty trials, and handled prosecutions under Florida’s Habitual Felony Offender Act, Habitual Violent Felony Offender Act, and Prison Release Re-Offender Act.
Carlos earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Florida State University, where he was recognized on the Dean’s List and received the Miami Lakes Business Association Scholarship. He received his Juris Doctor cum laude from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, where he received the Contracts Book Award, was inducted into the Order of the Barrister, recognized on the Dean’s List, served as Associate Editor of Publications for the Nova Law Review, was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, and competed on the ATLA National Trial Competition Team.
