Attorney
Niama Obas is an Attorney in Kelley Kronenberg’s General Liability Division, concentrating on all aspects of liability and casualty defense with a focus on third-party insurance defense.
Niama began her career in education as a Teacher, Student Government Advisor, and Equity Liaison, developing an inclusive curriculum and mentoring students in leadership and community engagement. Niama transitioned to public service as a Legislative Assistant, serving as a liaison between constituents and state officials while conducting research on key district issues. Upon entering law school, she gained experience as a Legal Intern conducting research and analyzing case files, followed by work as a Research Assistant providing legal research on contracts, labor employment, and environmental law. During law school, Niama served as an Academic Success Program Fellow mentoring first-year law students and worked as a Certified Legal Intern with daily courtroom experience in felony divisions, participating in plea negotiations and trial preparation. She also clerked with the American Civil Liberties Union, focusing on constitutional claims and issues. After graduation, Niama served as an Assistant Appellate Court Attorney, at one of the New York Appellate Divisions, conducting legal research on complex appellate questions and drafting judicial opinions for publication. Most recently, she worked as an Assistant Public Defender, in Florida, managing heavy caseloads while providing zealous representation in juvenile and felony court with daily courtroom appearances.
Niama earned her Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology, cum laude, from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She then received her Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from St. Thomas University Benjamin L. Crump College of Law, where she graduated in the top 5% of her class and served as Managing Editor of the Intercultural Human Rights Law Review. Niama earned CALI Highest Grade Awards in: Legal Writing, Advanced Legal Writing, Torts, and Contacts.
Niama is fluent in Moroccan Arabic.
