Tara Corsello is a Partner at Kelley Kronenberg, focusing her practice on the defense of general liability and third-party insurance defense matters, including automobile liability defense, construction litigation, construction defect litigation, investigating counsel and monitoring counsel, New York Labor Law, premises liability, trucking and transportation, OSHA, architects and engineers, and dram shop. Tara also provides general counsel services and counsel for construction contracts and negotiations.
Tara brings particular depth to the architects and engineers space, representing developers, landowners, general contractors, architects, engineers, design professional and specialty contractors, including firms engaged in geotechnical engineering, drilling operations, and utilities, in complex design and defect claims, delay damage claims, professional liability matters, commercial construction product liability and manufacturing defect claims, and homeowner and condominium disputes.
In her transportation practice, Tara counsels high-end trucking clients across the full arc of their legal needs, from pre-suit investigation through litigation and dispute resolution.
Tara represents clients in all claims brought against them in state and federal court, as well as in regulatory matters before local and federal agencies, including OSHA, The National Transportation Safety Board, State and local Departments of Transportation, The New York State Insurance Department, the New York City Department of Buildings, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and the New York City Environmental Protection Board. This regulatory work spans both her construction and transportation practices and frequently supports pre-litigation strategy.
Tara offers full service General Counsel services to transportation and construction companies, including contract review, negotiating, and drafting, pre-litigation investigation through resolution.
Prior to joining Kelley Kronenberg, Tara spent over a decade practicing insurance defense litigation throughout New York, specializing in Labor Law, construction design and defect, architect and engineer liability, premises liability, transportation, products liability, and workers’ compensation matters. She served as of counsel and senior associate attorney at multiple firms, managing large individual caseloads with significant exposures from inception through disposition, appearing regularly in New York State Supreme Civil Courts, New York City Civil Courts, the New York State Appellate Departments and Divisions, and various state and city regulatory boards. Her extensive trial experience includes serving as second chair at trial and handling all aspects of complex litigation including depositions, expert witness designation, motion practice, and appeals. She has also handled commercial insurance transportation defense and coverage matters, drafting coverage opinions, defending declaratory judgment actions, and representing clients before the New York State Department of Insurance and in American Arbitration Association proceedings.
Tara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology with minors in Government and Philosophy from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and Sigma Delta Tau. She received her Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law, where she served as a Rule 303 Student Attorney for the Public Defender’s Office and Justice Center of Massachusetts, as a law clerk for South Coastal Legal Services, and as a Rule 9 Student Attorney and law clerk for the Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General.
