Michelle Ortiz is a Partner in the firm’s Miami office, focusing her practice on First Party Property Insurance Defense. Additionally, she handles General Liability defense.
Michelle has over 16 years of experience handling insurance defense claims and litigation. She handles all types of general civil litigation matters including first party property claims, commercial premises liability, professional liability, products liability, and automobile negligence. An experienced litigator, Michelle develops creative case strategies that result in the successful resolution of complex matters. She has successfully argued motions for summary judgment, dismissals with prejudice, and special set evidentiary hearings, with favorable outcomes for insurance defense clients.
Michelle has also litigated over 150 non-jury trials in family law court. She has lectured, in numerous forums on family law, domestic violence, stalking, and sexual abuse. Michelle has provided training on the issues of family law and domestic violence to several community agencies in South Florida that provide services to victims of violence.
Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Florida International University. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the St. Thomas University School of Law, where she graduated in the top 5% of her class.
Michelle is fluent in Spanish.
