William “Jay” Connelly is a Partner at Kelley Kronenberg, focusing his practice on intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution and protection. He is admitted to appear before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and brings extensive experience in intellectual property matters.
Prior to joining Kelley Kronenberg, Jay owned and managed his own intellectual property law firm, where he handled patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution and developed client IP portfolios. He has served as a consultant on trademark matters and as Of Counsel at a law firm, where he conducted trademark and patentability searches, prepared related opinions, and prosecuted utility patent, design patent, and trademark applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. His experience includes litigating proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board and counseling clients on branding strategies. Jay also operated his own general practice law firm for eleven years, handling criminal law matters in state and municipal courts, civil litigation involving personal injury and workers’ compensation, and intellectual property matters. Additionally, he served as Assistant Municipal Prosecutor and worked as a Partner at a law firm, where he managed a substantial caseload of general liability matters and mentored new associates.
Jay earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Syracuse University. He received his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law.
