Kelley Kronenberg Obtains De Minimis Settlement to Save Client $95k

In an impressive victory, Kelley Kronenberg Partners, Kathrine Conroy and Michael Colgan, assisted by Paralegal, Jodi Peterman, and Legal Assistant, Ada Candelario, successfully obtained a de minimis settlement in a highly contentious first-party property action.

This case involved two condo units, where the homeowner reported vandalism and theft to her property. In reality, she had had a dispute with her condominium association over incomplete repairs to her unit and locked the condo’s contractors out, preventing completion. In a remarkable showing of strategy, Kathrine filed a 57.105 motion based on the claim’s lack of merit, which put significant pressure on Plaintiff’s counsel to settle.

Facing exposure of approximately $96,000.00, Kathrine and Michael identified this case as one requiring an aggressive defense and her efforts paid off. After some maneuvering and aggressive motion practice in preparation for trial, the Plaintiff accepted our client’s offer to settle for $1,000.00 inclusive.
