Kelley Kronenberg Expands Insurance Offerings with the Launch of PIP Practice Group

Fort Lauderdale/Orlando, Fla. – Kelley Kronenberg, a diverse business law firm with eleven offices throughout Florida and Illinois, has added a Personal Injury Protection (PIP) practice group.  While the firm has been known for its prolific insurance defense work, this new practice area allows it to offer a broader range of insurance-related legal services to its clients.  Veteran PIP attorney Joseph Carey was recently brought on to work with clients in this area.

“As we strategically and thoughtfully expand our practice areas and attorney base, the addition of another insurance defense service was a natural fit,” said Howard Wander, Kelley Kronenberg Principal Partner, and Chief Operating Officer.

Kelley Kronenberg’s PIP practice group will serve as defense counsel to local and national insurance companies by working to uncover any insurance fraud or misrepresentation.  The highly-experienced team understands the intricacies of this area of law and the issues facing insurance carriers with regard to Florida’s No-Fault/PIP statute.  Services include:  Defending a carrier’s denial or reduction of benefits through trial, if necessary; working closely with claim handlers and special investigations unit (SIU) departments; conducting comprehensive examinations under oath (EUO); responding to Civil Remedy Notices; and thoroughly investigating suspicious claims to determine if a matter should be paid or whether a fraud denial is appropriate.

Carey is a Partner in the firm’s Orlando office where he concentrates his practice in the areas of first and third party matters, with a special focus on PIP.  Throughout the last two decades, he has gained extensive trial experience and handled various types of insurance defense cases, including several high exposure automobile negligence cases.  Additionally, he has experience in defending clients in cases involving professional liability, premises liability, first party property disputes, construction defect, medical & healthcare malpractice, commercial/corporate disputes, and products liability.

Carey is certified by the Florida Department of Financial Services as a continuing education instructor and has presented courses on a broad range of insurance defense topics.  He is a dual graduate of Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, having received both a Bachelor of Science and M.B.A., and earned his juris doctor from the University of Miami School of Law.  He is admitted to practice law in Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida.

Throughout recent years, Kelley Kronenberg has experienced significant growth. The firm has 350 employees including more than 160 lawyers practicing throughout Florida and Illinois.
