Richard Unger is a Partner and Business Unit Leader at Kelley Kronenberg. where he concentrates on matters related to all aspects of workers’ compensation, representing employers and insurance carriers in coverage disputes, administrative proceedings, trials, and appeals. His background includes experience in civil litigation, commercial litigation, appellate law, personal injury, family law, and probate.
Richard has vast experience assisting employers in all aspects of workers’ compensation cases and workplace disputes. From providing counseling to vigorously defending them in litigation, he helps his clients daily in all aspects of claims handling, both before and after litigation has begun. He has handled complex matters through trial on numerous occasions, with a high percentage of success. Richard represents businesses and individuals of all types and sizes, both public and private, from national multi-billion-dollar corporations to small employers.
Richard has practiced law for more than three decades and has handled cases before Florida’s First, Third, and Fourth District Courts of Appeal. Throughout his career, Richard has cultivated an array of skills and knowledge that have contributed to the effective representation of clients across various industries, including the retail, healthcare, hospitality, and the public goods and government services industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, construction, municipalities, retail, restaurant, and transportation.
Prior to joining the firm, Richard worked as in-house counsel for a large insurance company. He represented employers and insurance carriers and assisted clients in developing cost-effective claims management programs. Richard is certified by the state of Florida to conduct continuing education courses and frequently presents seminars and lectures on a variety of civil liability matters.
